Hunting around to get a local weather forecast could be a thing of the past thanks to Nokia's Here and now app.
This is a beta version of Here and now, a program which Nokia claims will soon be pre-installed on new devices. It allows you to access weather forecasts and events listings based on your current location.
Here and now couldn't be any easier to use. Launch the app and it will automatically call up the daily weather forecast for your location, giving you the conditions, temperature, and wind speed and direction at specific times over the next 24 hours. You can click 'Open' to access more detailed weather information for the next 5 days.
Besides weather information, Here and now also offers details of events in your local area, such as exhibitions, theater listings and festivals.
The user interface looks great and is very clear and straightforward. I only wish that Here and now had a little more in the way of functionality. At present the weather information isn't very comprehensive, and the event listings are a little thin on the ground. Of course, this is still a beta release so hopefully new stuff will get added over time.
As it stands, Here and now represents a quick and easy way of checking local weather and what's on information.
